Restaurant de l'Opéra Garnier
French architect Odile Decq is designing the new restaurant at the Opera Garnier in the second arrondissement of Paris. Magnificent glass walls protecting the original stone, curved structures defining the new space, and the simple use of white and red, the latter provided by the “Abetone” wool flooring, outline an environment that is both minimal and grandiose, contemporary and historic. The building, originally designed by architect Charles Garnier in a Baroque revival style, was inaugurated in 1875. Over the years, it has been known as Opéra de Paris, L’Opéra Garnier, Paris Opéra, and L’Opéra Populaire. Its architecture has set a new style for buildings intended for opera.
