Helmut Newton Legacy

Sponsored by the Municipality of Milan-Culture and produced by Palazzo Reale and Marsilio Arte, in collaboration with the Helmut Newton Foundation in Berlin, the exhibition is curated by Matthias Harder, director of the Helmut Newton Foundation, and Denis Curti. It retraces the entire career of one of the most beloved and controversial photographers of all time through 250 photographs, magazines, documents, and videos. The exhibition design project for Helmut Newton Legacy involved the use of recycled and recyclable materials, suitable for both ensuring a proper intervention in the space and their reuse even after the exhibition. Therefore, the covering of the flooring, necessary to allow for a horizontal chromatic uniformity, ensure significant light absorption, and avoid light reflections, was made with an “Ambiente” carpet of over 1300 square meters made from regenerated nylon. After the exhibition, our carpet will have a second life. Upon disassembly, the flooring will be cut into large format portions and assigned to ten artists who have joined a post-use creative project.
